Unfortunately the large-scale Williams 'Wildfire' Westernationals event, hosting the Australian Universities Rocket Competition (AURC), will not be going ahead in September 2024 as planned.

Due to circumstances beyond our control the rocket motor order placed earlier this year required both for the AURC teams and WARS members will not be available by the required date. As hosting the AURC teams was a key part of this event it is no longer feasible and we are required to consider alternative options, including possible postponement to 2025.

As is tradition WARS do intend to hold a two day launch and camp out on the weekend of the 21st - 22nd of September, which is open to all who wish to attend. Details are being finalised and will be announced shortly. For those who have already registered for the event emails will be sent soon regarding options for their existing ticket purchases, including refunds if required. Any queries can be directed to or visit for updates as they are announced.

Based in Perth and with launch sites located in the surrounding areas, the Western Australian Rocketry Society (WARS) is the premiere rocketry club in Western Australia. WARS was established in 2011 with the aim of providing a safe environment for the development and launching of rockets and promoting the educational and recreational benefits of involvement in rocketry.

Whether you are into fast or slow, big or small rockets, WARS welcomes participation from all enthusiasts no matter their age or capability.

Please feel free to browse the WARS website by clicking on the links above or check out the FAQ for information on getting started. For future launch dates and launch site locations, please check under ‘Event Calendar’.
