Based in Perth and surrounding areas, the Western Australian Rocketry Society Inc. (WARS) is the largest and fastest growing rocketry club in Western Australia. WARS was established in 2011 with the aim of providing a safe environment for the development and launching of rockets and promoting the educational and recreational benefits of involvement in rocketry.
Whether you are into fast or slow, big or small rockets, WARS welcomes participation from all enthusiasts no matter their age or capability. Joining WARS is simple and can be done by clicking on ‘Join WARS’ above, or at any launch day.
WARS operates from two launch sites in Western Australia, one located at Grass Valley approximately 85km East of Perth. Grass Valley has an operating instrument that permits launches to a ceiling of 7,000ft AMSL.
The other launch site is located near the town of Williams, approximately 175km South of Perth via Albany Highway. The Williams launch site has an operating ceiling of 18,000ft AMSL & windows available to 24,500ft AMSL.
WARS is an affiliated club with the Australian Model Rocket Society INC. (AMRS) and operates using the AMRS safety codes & procedures. By following these procedures AMRS is able to provide $20,000,000 PL insurance necessary for operation.
